Beaumond House Hospice Care - Enter and View Report
The hospice, located in Newark, provides vital services, including in-patient care, hospice-at-home support, bereavement services, and day therapy for people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
The report highlights the high-quality care delivered at Beaumond House, with patients praising the compassionate, respectful, and dignified approach of the staff. Many commented on the supportive environment and the inclusion in meaningful activities, which foster a sense of community and engagement. Staff also expressed job satisfaction, citing strong team dynamics and the emotional support they receive, even during challenging times.
However, the report also identifies key challenges related to the limitations of the Victorian-era building. The lack of bathing facilities (showers only) and the small lift, which cannot accommodate stretchers, were noted as areas requiring urgent improvement to better meet patient needs. The building's design also results in limited space, making certain areas feel crowded at times.
HWNN made three key recommendations:
- Relocate to a New Facility: Transition to a purpose-built hospice to address current infrastructure challenges and enhance patient care.
- Provide Protected Training Time: Allocate dedicated time for staff training and development, ensuring they can focus on learning without service interruptions.
- Maintain High Standards of Care: Continue collecting regular feedback from patients and families to refine and enhance the quality of care.
The report reflects Beaumond House’s commitment to continuous improvement and highlights its critical role in providing compassionate care. Addressing the identified challenges will further enhance patient experiences and support staff well-being.
