We’re looking for people embedded in their communities to act as a crucial link between HWNN and local groups. If you represent a community or group and care about improving health and social care, the Community Connector role might be the opportunity for you to make a real difference.

Who is a Community Connector?

A Community Connector is someone who:

  • Represents their local community, group, or area
  • Helps make a difference in health and social care services
  • Raises issues that matter to them and their community
  • Strengthens their voice with the support of Healthwatch
  • Connects to experts, services, resources, and information
  • Accesses training, networking, ongoing support, and Healthwatch events
  • Works alongside other members of the Community Connector Network

We are looking for people that are embedded in their local community, either representing a certain group or locality, or with a personal interest in health and social care. This includes community group leaders, church leaders, or members of health issue groups, but we are open to anyone with a drive to speak up for what needs to change.

This is not a standard volunteering role, with no regular expectations of time given, just to stay in touch with us regularly and raise issues that matter to you and your community.

What’s in it for you?

As a Community Connector, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Share issues that matter to you and your community so HWNN can raise them where it matters
  • Learn about Healthwatch and its mission to improve health and social care
  • Make a real difference in local services
  • Connect with experts and relevant services
  • Gain support and insights from other Community Connectors
  • Access resources, training, and networking opportunities
  • Receive ongoing support from HWNN staff
  • Attend HWNN events such as Annual Showcase and Community Roadshows
  • Join regular Community Connector networking meetings
