Hot Topic: GP Services

Published in November 2022, this Healthwatch Nottingham & Nottinghamshire survey explored people's experiences of using and accessing GP services. 399 people responded.

Key findings

  • Over two-thirds of respondents had contacted their GP practice to book an appointment with a healthcare professional, with nearly seven in ten doing so by phone.
  • Two-thirds got what they wanted from their most recent contact with the practice. The most common reasons people didn't were no appointments being available and long waits on the phone.
  • 15% had contacted other services (such as pharmacies or NHS 111) before their GP, and nearly two-thirds had looked elsewhere for information.
  • The most common positive feedback was a positive staff attitude and good service overall, though many people also raised difficulties booking appointments, including long phone waits and limited call-in times.
