Healthwatch Nottinghamshire Annual Report 2017/18
Over the year, Healthwatch Nottinghamshire collected 386 detailed experiences covering 193 different health and care services, spoke to 2,003 people about their views, visited 56 places across the county, provided information and advice to 36 people, and reached 4,186 people through digital channels.
Key priorities for 2017/18 included the Enter and View programme, an LGBT+ project, follow-up work on the Mental Health Crisis Concordat, and building data-sharing protocols ahead of the merger. The report highlights two examples of change: a joint LGBT+ healthcare report with Healthwatch Nottingham led to commissioners requiring providers to demonstrate LGBT-inclusive cultural competency training, and the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health recruiting three new staff to ease service pressure. Healthwatch Nottinghamshire also supported Healthwatch Doncaster and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals on a "Missed Appointments" project, surveying 212 outpatients at Bassetlaw District General Hospital to understand why appointments were missed.
The report closes with plans for 2018/19 — prioritising the frail elderly, mental health, and seldom-heard groups — along with details of governance, staffing, and the 2017/18 financial statement. Core local authority funding was reduced to £198,000 (a £100,000 cut from the previous year), with an additional £50,000 provided to support restructuring and the merger process; total income was £251,190.
