Awareness Survey: Safeguarding vulnerable adults 2018 report

Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire carried out a survey to understand how confident local people felt about recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns, and to identify ways to improve awareness of safeguarding across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

The survey found that while many people understood the importance of safeguarding, there was uncertainty about what safeguarding means, when concerns should be reported, and which organisations to contact for help. Respondents highlighted the need for clearer information and greater public awareness.

The findings have been used to support local safeguarding partners in improving communication and ensuring people know how to raise concerns if they are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or adult.
