Healthwatch Nottingham Annual Report 2015/16
Over the year, Healthwatch Nottingham directly engaged with 1,057 local people at community events, collected 1,682 experiences of care services overall, and provided advice and information about local care services 573 times. Around 43% of experiences collected came from people in vulnerable or seldom-heard groups, including children and young people, older people, disabled people, carers, Black and minority ethnic communities, LGBT+ people, and refugees and asylum seekers.
Key work during the year included: an ongoing insight project into young people's mental health services (over 400 experiences collected); a joint project with Healthwatch Nottinghamshire exploring people's experiences of dementia diagnosis; gathering experiences from people with physical and sensory impairments; a GP mystery shopping exercise across all 57 Nottingham City GP practices, commissioned by the CCG; and an in-depth report on patient experience of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which fed directly into a CQC inspection and was praised by inspectors for its usefulness.
The report also sets out Healthwatch Nottingham's plans for 2016/17 — including work on mental health crisis services, launching an Enter and View programme, and exploring access to GP services — along with details of its volunteers, governance, and 2015/16 financial statement (total income £168,950).
