Introducing Community Voices Matter: a new name for Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
We've operated as the charitable company 'Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire' for 13 years, delivering the statutory Healthwatch service to people across the county. That work continues exactly as before — what's changing is the name over the door, not the organisation behind it.
The Board took this decision after looking closely at the government's proposals to move local Healthwatch functions into local authorities and Integrated Care Boards. Rather than wait to see what shape those changes take, the Board chose to get ahead of them: renaming the charity now, while keeping everything else — governance, staff, contracts, and the day-to-day service — exactly as it is.
So to be clear: nothing about how we're run, who runs it, or what we deliver has changed. We're the same team, doing the same job, under a new name. If you've worked with Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire before, you're still working with the same people — we're not going anywhere.
Why the change?
Our Board wants Community Voices Matter to do more than react to a shifting policy landscape - we want to build on it. Over 13 years of delivering the statutory service, we've built up genuine expertise and real relationships across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and the Board sees an opportunity to put that to wider use: not just in health and social care, but across public services more broadly.

What happens now?
We have a new website
We're excited to share that the new Community Voices Matter website is now live.
it's been a few intense months but also a labour of love! - new name, new look, and now a new home online. The website reflects who we are today: still delivering the Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire statutory service, and building towards our wider role championing local voices across public services.

What happens to hwnn.co.uk?
Our Healthwatch Nottingham & Nottinghamshire website, hwnn.co.uk, isn't going anywhere - it will remain live, and we'll keep uploading blogs, news, and reports to it, so you won't lose access to anything you've come to rely on. Over time, our new Community Voices Matter website will become the main home for everything we publish, but for now both sites will run alongside each other.
